Man United ‘open talks’ with Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot

Manchester United have reportedly opened talks to sign Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot.

Last summer, it was widely reported that United boss Erik ten Hag wanted to sign Rabiot.

However, due to the player’s apparent high wage demands, the deal did not materialise.

Furthermore, it is well documented that Rabiot’s agent and mother, Veronique, is a very tough negotiator.

Ahead of this summer’s transfer window, The Athletic have claimed that Ten Hag is considering signing the 28-year-old again and contacts have been made with Rabiot’s representatives.

Rabiot’s contract with Juventus is set to expire at the end of June and it has been reported that the Serie A giants have offered him a new deal.

Back in December, Rabiot claimed that he had ambitions of playing in England.

As per The Athletic, he said: “I have always said that I’d like to play in England in my career. I still have that desire. I’d like to evolve in the Premier League.

“I haven’t got a Premier League team in mind right now. I haven’t chosen a team or anything. It’s a general thing.”

Rabiot continued: “It’s the league, it’s the level of play that’s going on, that’s what attracts me most. It corresponds to my qualities.”

Apart from Rabiot, United have been linked with the likes of Mason Mount, Moises Caicedo and Declan Rice.

To date, the Old Trafford club have had three bids for Mount rejected by Chelsea.

It has been claimed that United could shelve their interest in Mount if they are unable to find a solution with the Stamford Bridge club.

In terms of Caicedo, the Brighton and Hove Albion remains favourite to join Chelsea but it is believed that United have held talks with his representatives over a move to Old Trafford.

United are set to be busy this summer as Ten Hag looks to build a squad capable of challenging on all fronts.
