Liverpool 'submit €55m bid' for Real Madrid star Aurelien Tchouameni
A surprise report from Spain claims Liverpool have revived their interest in Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.
Liverpool first tried to sign France international Tchouameni last summer while he was still at Ligue 1 club Monaco.
But the Merseyside club were beaten to the midfielder by Spanish giants Real Madrid, who signed him in a deal worth up to £85m including add-ons.
Tchouameni, 23, played 50 games in his first season at the Bernabeu but has been a bit-part player for the Spanish club, with the majority of appearances coming from the bench.
And with Real Madrid signing Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund this summer, Tchouameni could be pushed further down the midfield pecking order.
That has led to speculation over the French star's future.
Liverpool back in for Tchouameni?
Catalan outlet El Nacional claim Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp remains an admirer of Tchouameni and has given the green light for the club to make a move for the midfielder.
It is claimed Liverpool have submitted an opening €55m (£47m) offer for the former Bordeaux star.
While Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is said to be open to selling Tchouameni, he is seeking €85m (£68m) for the player.
While Liverpool are no doubt in the market for further midfield signings after Alexis Mac Allister, the report of their renewed interest in Tchouameni comes as something of a surprise.
Liverpool have been strongly linked with other targets including Nice's Khephren Thuram, Borussia Monchengladbach's Manu Kone and Celta Vigo's Gabri Veiga.
Meanwhile, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has urged the Old Trafford club to make a move for Tchouameni this summer.
Speaking on his Vibe with Five podcast, Ferdinand said: "In midfield, you know who I would go and get? I would go try to get Tchouameni.
"He's the one who doesn't play, he is the odd man out at the moment. I'd go and try and get him. Massive improvement."
