List of top 10 most valuable squads in the world has been released
The list of the ten most valuable squads has been released and there are some surprises.
Transfermarkt have updated a list of the most valuable squads in the world, and unsurprisingly treble winners Manchester City are at the summit.
After a season that saw Pep Guadiola’s side claim the Champions League, Premier League and FA Cup, City’s squad is collectively valued at £940million.
Their most valuable player is Erling Haaland, who is worth £154million after a debut season in English football in which he netted 52 times in all competitions.
Meanwhile, academy graduate Phil Foden is valued at £94million and Champions League final hero Rodri is worth a reported £77million.
Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich boast the second most valuable squad (£841million), with Jamal Musiala their most expensive player at £94million. Moreover, defensive duo Matthijs de Ligt and Alphonso Davies are valued at £64million and £60million respectively.
Premier League runners-up Arsenal are third on the list (£837million), with Bukayo Saka valued at some £102million, Martin Odegaard at £77million and William Saliba at £55million.
The rest of the top five is made up of Chelsea (£796million), who are admittedly helped by having one of the largest squads in football, and Paris Saint-Germain (£757million), who boast the world’s joint most expensive player - Kylian Mbappe, valued at £154million.
Surprisingly, despite their global status Real Madrid are sixth on the list (£746million) while Barcelona (£685.6million) are languishing in ninth.
That’s despite the former having Vinicius Jr, valued at £128million, among their ranks and the latter having Pedri and Gavi in their midfield, worth £85million and £77million respectively.
Meanwhile, Manchester United have the seventh most valuable squad (£619million), ahead of their rivals Liverpool in eighth (£690million).
And after a season which saw them claim their first Scudetto in more than three decades, Napoli now boast the tenth most valuable squad in world football (£549million), courtesy of Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia who are worth £102million and £72million respectively.
