'Leaked document' of Premier League 2023/24 fixtures

Premier League supporters are less than 24 hours away from finding out the fixtures for the 2023/24 season.

But the eagerly-awaited schedule may have already been exposed by one unfortunate press reporter, who seemingly revealed the opening round of fixtures via a bound document angled conveniently towards an onlooking camera.

The snapshot, taken from a distance, shows the Premier League logo headlining the official-looking set of papers before an all-capitalised message underlined and boldened, which states: "PRESS EMBARGO: STRICTLY NOT FOR RELEASE BEFORE 09:00 BST 15 JUNE 2023."

Underneath the Premier League's curtain-raising fixtures are displayed for all to see, including champions Manchester City travelling to Vincent Kompany's newly-promoted Burnley and the all-London clashes of Crystal Palace v Chelsea and Fulham v Arsenal.

However, fans are not convinced the document is the real deal as play-off winners Luton Town are scheduled to host Liverpool on opening weekend with renovations still ongoing at Kenilworth Road.

The Hatters are required to rebuild the Bobbers Stand to meet Premier League broadcasting regulations, which could plausibly see Rob Edwards' side play their first three top-flight matches away from home.

"There is a schedule of about 11-12 weeks of work that has got to be done," Luton's Chief Recruitment Officer Mick Harford told the BBC. "It might become a bit of a problem, so we will probably have to play maybe two or three games away from home at the start of the Premier League season.

"But Gary's [Gary Sweet - Luton's Chief Executive] got everything in place, we're in a good place, the work has begun so it's all systems go."

Prior to promotion, Sweet acknowledged that the demolition and rebuilding job of the Bobbers Stand would be a "gargantuan task"

"There's rather a lot of work to do," he added. "We've got about £8m, maybe £10m of improvements to do which is pretty much rebuilding one stand in less than three months, which is some task. It's just really to comply with Premier League's broadcasting requirements and some facility requirements that are needed."
