Premier League veteran Robbie Keane and his wife have won a three-year court battle to remove an OAP from their £3.8m mansion in Hertfordshire.

The former Liverpool and Tottenham forward won the legal fight with 74-year-old fashion boss Sandi St Paul and her former housemate, who have collectively been ordered to pay £292,192 plus £70,000 costs towards legal fees.

Ms St Paul and pal Stewart Lawrence began renting the family home in December of 2019, with the latter moving out around a year ago and the pensioner left as his guarantor despite her not being named on the tenancy agreement.

Ms St Paul attended Central London County Court in a wheelchair this week without a lawyer and alleged that the stress of being left without heating or hot water led to her having a stroke.

Judge Heather Baucher ordered her out of the plush £8,000-a-month property more than three years after rent payments stopped in April 2020.

The gated mansion, which has a cinema room as well as five bedrooms and extensive gardens, was lived in by the Keane family before Robbie got a coaching job at Middlesbrough - most recently working under Sam Allardyce at Leeds.

Claudine Keane, 42, who is a former Miss Ireland contestant and shares two children with the retired former international striker, told the court how tensions began.

She said: "When there was a leak I begged you to let workers in and you refused. I cried on that phone call and begged you 'please don't destroy my property'."

Ms St Paul said in reply: "I was hospitalised twice and had to take bed rest. If somebody were to knock on the door I wouldn't hear them from my window."

The Keane family were countersued in a bid to offset rent arrears by Mr Lawrence as heard by the court, but that was dismissed due to lack of evidence.

Judge Baucher added that both defendants did not engage with the owners of the property and refused to 'allow access to assess disrepair'.

Ms St Paul said outside the court after the hearing: "Somebody said he was in football. I hate football."

The Keanes married back in 2008 before the birth of their children in 2009 and 2015, with son Robert an aspiring footballer.
