Fulham's Issa Diop arrested over 'death threats to his ex' after heated arguments

Fulham defender Issa Diop has reportedly been arrested in his native France having been accused of making several death threats to his ex.

The 26-year-old allegedly made the threats to his ex-partner during the ongoing process of their separation, La Depeche report.

That then led to his arrest at the Pullman Hotel in Toulouse on Sunday.

Diop, who spent four years at West Ham before joining Fulham in the summer, came through the youth academy at Toulouse before making 95 first team appearances.

La Depeche report that Diop is currently in police custody at the central police station in Toulouse.

The unnamed woman filed a complaint last week with investigators apprehending the player in France, after he returned from England.

Diop made 25 Premier League appearances under Marco Silva, scoring once as Fulham finished in the top half of the table.

A former France youth international, Diop made 42 appearances across various age groups, most recently with the under21 side back in 2018.

The defender comes from a family of footballers, with his grandfather Lybasse Diop playing for Bordeaux during the 1970s.

Diop has four years left on the contract he signed at Craven Cottage last summer, leaving West Ham for an undisclosed fee.
