Ex-Arsenal keeper Jens Lehmann is facing a suspended sentence following a chainsaw rampage.

Lehmann, 53, reportedly chainsawed the beams of his neighbour’s new garage after it obstructed the view of Starnberg Lake from his home on July 25 last year.

The German also ripped out the cable of a CCTV camera before beginning the chainsaw redecoration of his neighbour’s garage. But unfortunately for Lehmann, the camera was battery operated and caught the former goalkeeper in the act.

According to German outlet Bild, Lehmann is now facing a suspended sentence after charges were filed against Lehmann for property damage, defamation and two counts of fraud.

The director of the district court in Starnberg Monika Andress confirmed the charges, explaining: "In about five weeks it will be decided if more inquiries would be necessary and if there is enough for the case to actually be heard in a court."

It is believed that Lehmann has a history of disagreements with his neighbour and previously reported them for ‘property damage and coercion’, believing that the new garage he attempted to tear down is being built on his land.

Police are also investigating if the Premier League winner is culpable for three other cases of vandalism worth in excess of £8,500.

Lehmann posted a statement regarding the charges on Instagram saying: "The allegations raised against me are not accurate like that. The fraud allegations against me are regarding an unpaid parking ticket of €90.

"The damage done to my reputation is enormous and my privacy is being ignored."

Lehmann played his first spell at Arsenal between 2003 and 2008 where he lifted the Premier League and finished as a runner-up in the 2006 Champions League final - which he was sent off in.

He returned in 2011 after coming out of retirement following a goalkeeping crisis in Arsene Wenger’s side.

Lehmann’s latest venture into football saw him sacked from Hertha Berlin’s board last year after a racist WhatsApp message from him appeared online, for which he publicly apologised for.
