Dele Alli told to ‘recover as a human’ after disastrous Besiktas loan spell
Besiktas chief Ahmet Nur Cebi has once again slammed Dele Alli after the midfielder’s torrid loan spell with the club.
Many hoped Alli would rediscover his best football when he left Tottenham Hotspur for Everton back in 2022.
However, under the guidance of Frank Lampard, he failed to impress and was eventually sent out to Turkish Super Lig side Besiktas on loan.
During his time in Turkey, things went from bad to worse for the 27-year-old as he again struggled to find form and was hit with injury problems.
In total, the Englishman made 15 appearances across all competitions for the Turkish club, registering only three goals.
Now, Besiktas’s chief Cebi has slammed the midfielder in a recent interview with BeIN Sports.
He said: “He was a player we were very excited about when he came. He won't come back. We didn't get what we expected from him.
“I hope he recovers as a human.”
Alli still has one year left on his Everton contract in which he earns a reported £100,000 a week.
As he returns to Goodison Park, he could be given a lifeline by new boss Sean Dyche.
He recently said: “Some of the stuff that's been said and reported... he's 27 and like other players knows certain things and what they should or shouldn't be doing.
“Forget about Everton for a minute, as a manager you can't control everything they do in their lives.”
Dyche continued: “You can only guide people with what you think is good for them and eventually they have choices. We recommend they make good choices.
“I just got a sense that he wants to be back playing football and playing well. There isn't anything other than getting him fit. I've heard all the noise, I've heard all the opinions and I'm pretty sure that you're aware that I like to make my own.”
