Sol Campbell's 2:30am social media usage was enough to get his fellow former pro footballers chuckling in the comments.

The former Arsenal and England defender posted some old statistics that showed the fastest Premier League players across the 2007/08 and 2008/09 seasons, with Theo Walcott leading the way with 22.72mph.

Campbell was second with 22.5mph, which he compared to Usain Bolt's 24.04mph - but it was the presence of another player on the list which baffled his followers.

Cesc Fabregas was tied fifth with Ashley Cole and Nicolas Anelka, behind Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres.

Ferdinand said: "Sol, I’m sorry to kill your vibe but Cesc being on this list makes this bit of data null & void." He added: "You were quick tho bro."

Sylvain Distin added: "Cesc as fast as Anelka ?????? Really ?????."

Phil Neville, referring to the 2004 clash between Arsenal and Manchester United at Old Trafford: "Still give us a penalty at OT tho Sol."

Campbell then said in response: "Nice to hear from all the guys on this, it’s great to know you are all real with no computer people writing for you thank god!"

Since calling time on his playing career back in 2011 after a spell with Newcastle, Campbell has had two jobs in management.

The 48-year-old won eight of his 30 games with Macclesfield Town between 2018 and 2019 and four of his 23 with Southend between 2019 and 2020.

He said earlier this year in a chat with Portsmouth news: "I’m a good motivator and know what I’m doing when coaching and into the swing of it, I know football inside out.

"You cannot have all my football experiences and know nothing about football, I can pass it all on.

"I am not coaching at the moment, I would love to and am still applying, but nothing is happening. It’s almost like I am banished out of football, which is bizarre."
