Burnley's Scary Movie inspired transfer video let down by new signing's 'cringe' acting
Newly-promoted Burnley's transfer announcements are often daring and they certainly didn't hold back with their bizarre Scary Movie clip to unveil new man Dara O'Shea
Burnley’s Scary Movie-inspired transfer video has split opinion as fans slammed the “cringe” acting involved.
The Clarets announced the arrival of Dara O’Shea on a four-year deal on Friday. The Republic of Ireland international, 24, joined from West Brom as Vincent Kompany’s newly-promoted side look to leave their mark on the Premier League.
And the Burnley social media team announced the signing in astonishing fashion - by using the famous “wazzup” telephone scene from the film Scary Movie.
The original actors, including one wearing a Scream mask, could all be seen yelling “wazzup” on the phone. Stunningly, the social media team also edited in new defender O’Shea in after one of the characters asked: “What you doing, son?”
A deadpan O’Shea responded over the phone with: “Nothing. Just chilling. I’m signing for Burnley.”
But not everyone on Twitter was impressed by the Irishman’s wooden delivery, as some users poked fun at the skit in the comments section.
One user wrote: “Genuinely the most cringe club I’ve ever interacted with,” while another sarcastically commented: “Get that man an Oscar right now.”

A third tweeted: “Tough watch that announcement vid,” and a fourth added: “Bottom of the pile this announcement imo.”
Others, however, appeared more impressed, tweeting: “Yes!!! Well done again, Admin! Always comes through with a brilliant announcement!” and: “Another cracking video Media team, well done.”
Burnley followed up the video by posting a more traditional interview with their signing, far more in tune with what fans are accustomed to.

“It feels great to be here and I really can’t wait to get going," O'Shea told the official club website upon his arrival at Turf Moor.
"Burnley were the outstanding team last season and they achieved exceptional things. I want to improve as a player first and foremost and I want to help the club achieve their goals.
"I’m at the stage of my career now when I want to push myself. I want to be the best I can be and this is the club that can help me do that and I can help them too.”
