BREAKING: Quincy Promes Sentenced to 18 Months in Prison for Stabbing Cousin

A Dutch court has sentenced Quincy Promes to 18 months in prison for stabbing his cousin in the knee during a fight in 2020. The 31-year-old Spartak Moscow striker was found guilty of aggravated assault.

The incident occurred at a family birthday party in Abacoude, near Amsterdam. Promes and his cousin were arguing over a stolen necklace when Promes allegedly stabbed the victim with a knife. The victim suffered serious injuries to his knee and required surgery.

Promes was arrested and charged with attempted murder, but prosecutors later dropped the charge, saying there was not enough evidence to prove that Promes intended to kill his cousin. He was instead charged with aggravated assault.

Promes pleaded not guilty to the charges, but he was found guilty by the court. He was sentenced to 18 months in prison, but he is currently living in Moscow and it is not clear if he will return to the Netherlands to serve his sentence.

The sentencing is a blow to Promes' career. He was a promising young player who had represented the Netherlands at the international level. He was also a key player for Spartak Moscow, helping the club win the Russian Premier League in 2020.

It is unclear what the future holds for Promes. He could appeal the sentence, but it is unlikely that he will be able to avoid jail time. He could also be released early on parole, but that would depend on his behavior in prison.

The sentencing is a reminder that even professional athletes are not above the law. Promes' actions have had serious consequences, and he will now have to pay the price.

In addition to the prison sentence, Promes has also been fined €40,000. He is also banned from contacting his cousin for five years.
