BREAKING: Alexis Mac Allister joins Liverpool from Brighton as contract details revealed

Liverpool have completed the signing of Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton as Jurgen Klopp continues his squad overhaul this summer.

Liverpool have triggered a release clause in Mac Allister's contract at Brighton which will see them pay just £35m for the Argentina international.

Mac Allister, 24, has agreed personal terms on a five-year deal and will earn around £150,000 per week at Anfield, according to Football Insider.

He passed a medical with Liverpool on Tuesday and will officially join the Merseyside club when the transfer window opens for English clubs on June 14.

Mac Allister will wear the No 10 shirt at Anfield, previously worn by the likes of Sadio Mane, Philippe Coutinho, John Barnes and Michael Owen.

"It feels amazing. It's a dream come true, it's amazing to be here and I can't wait to get started," Mac Allister told Liverpool's website.

“I wanted to be in [from] the first day of pre-season, so it’s good that everything is done. I’m looking forward to meeting my teammates.

"It was a fantastic year for me – World Cup, what we achieved with Brighton – but now it's time to think about Liverpool and try to be a better player and a better human being every day."

Mac Allister leaves Brighton having helped them to secure a sixth-place finish in the Premier League, their highest-ever league finish which guaranteed them a spot in the Europa League next season.

In total, he made 112 appearances for the Seagulls, scoring 20 goals, after first joining them from Argentinos Juniors in 2019.

The move to Anfield caps a remarkable season for Mac Allister, who was part of the Argentina squad that triumphed at the World Cup in Qatar.</

 "Since I won the World Cup, I said that I want to win more trophies and I think that this club will help me to do that – that's the aim and when you are in a big club like this one you have to win trophies. So, that's what I want," added Mac Allister.

"Since I arrived here, I can see how big this club is – the players we have, the staff, everyone. I'm really pleased and looking forward to playing for this club."

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is looking to sign several players this summer after allowing James Milner, Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita to leave the club at the end of their contracts.

The Reds have been linked with several midfield targets including Nice's Khephren Thuram, Borussia Monchengladbach's Manu Kone and Celta Vigo's Gabri Veiga.

Liverpool may also look to sign a left-sided centre-back this summer, with Eintracht Frankfurt's Evan Ndicka, Wolfsburg's Micky van de Ven and Levi Colwill - who spent the season on loan at Brighton from Chelsea - just some of the names linked with the Reds.

Liverpool may also look to sign another right-back as cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold, should the club's transfer budget stretch to that.
