Arsenal's Transfer Plans for Havertz in Jeopardy as Bayern Munich Enter the Race
Bayern Munich have expressed late interest in signing Kai Havertz from Chels(
The Germany international was set for Arsenal but with talks stalling over the £70m asking price, Bayern have made an approach.
He is seen by the Bavarian giants as a cheap alternative to Dusan Vlahovic and Eintracht Frankfurt's Kolo Muani, who's planned move to the Allianzz hit an impasse yesterday.
Arsenal were hoping to bring the price down to £60m, as they focus on completing their move for West Ham skipper Declan Rice, which could cost in-excess of £100million, before trying to close a deal for Havertz.
The north London club want to establish how much money they will be required to pay upfront for Rice this summer.
West Ham ideally want the money for Rice paid in two instalments before 2025 - a scenario which would put a major dent in Arsenal’s spending capacity this summer.
The amount Arsenal pay for No 1 target Rice will impact on how far they are willing to stretch for Havertz.
The Gunners also want a central defender which needs to be considered.
Chelsea are open to offering Havertz a new deal, but his salary would likely be reduced given the club's substantial wage bill.
