PSG midfielder slams fans for booing Lionel Messi
Lionel Messi was booed by his own fans during a Ligue 1 match where Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) thrashed Ajaccio 5-0.
The Argentine forward, who has struggled to adapt to life in Paris, was jeered at during the first half.
Later during the game it seemed like the crowd jeered him every time he touched the ball.
Messi also seemed irked by the fans’ reaction but the booing of the 2022 World Cup winner is a sign of the growing frustration among PSG fans.
This prompted his teammate midfielder Renato Sanches to react to the developing situation and said that the booing is a difficult situation for the Parisians and the Argentine legend.
“It’s a bit of a weird situation. It’s hard for Messi, for the team, and for the club,” he said via Get French Football News.
Earlier, Messi was suspended by Paris Saint Germain for an unauthorized trip to Saudi Arabia. He later apologized to the club and supporters, saying he is waiting for what the club wants to do with him.
