Paul Pogba is in tears after going off injured for Juventus in nightmare season

Paul Pogba was in tears after suffering another injury in a dreadful season back at Juventus.

The Frenchman has barely played for the Bianconeri in his second spell after persistent injuries throughout the season.

He assisted the last-gasp equaliser scored by Federico Gatti against Sevilla in the Europa League semi-final first leg on Thursday but just when it looked like he had turned a corner, he endured heartbreak again.

Pogba made his first start in over a year against Cremonese at the Allianz Stadium but went off after just 24 minutes.

The former Manchester United midfielder was utterly heartbroken and pulled his shirt over his face to hide the tears streaming down his face while his teammates did their best to console him.

Pogba returned to Juve in the summer but did not make a single appearance for Max Allegri's side until February.

That was due to the World Cup winner suffering a torn meniscus in his knee in pre-season, which led to Pogba undergoing surgery.

He has since been struggling with muscle injuries - one of which was a twinge in his adductor while taking free-kicks - restricting him to just nine appearances for the Turin outfit.

There was also a disciplinary breach which resulted in him not being called up for the Europa League game against Freiburg when he was fit and available for selection.

A crestfallen Pogba was replaced by Arkadiusz Milik and it would be a major surprise to see him feature again this season judging by his reaction.

Pogba penned a four-year deal in July after his deal with United expired but there was a report from Gazzetta dello Sport claiming Juventus were considering ripping up his contract.

However, Juventus’ chief operating officer Francesco Calvo emphatically denied the story.

"We are not planning to terminate Pogba's contract, I can deny these stories," Calvo said, via TSN.

"He's an important player for us. The injuries are part of the game, but Paul is training well and we wait for him."
