Marcus Rashford's Act of Kindness: Provides Housing for 'Bankrupt' Manchester United Legend
It was reported last month that the 43-year-old Brown, a legend of Manchester United, had been declared bankrupt.
The Daily Mail reported that the ex-England defender accumulated a debt of six-figures with HMRC and also defaulted on his car payments. It is believed that Brown owes the car finance company a few thousand pounds.
In addition, The Daily Mail mentioned that Wayne Rooney and Michael Carrick, former teammates of Brown at Manchester United, have come to his aid.
Recent reports suggest that Rashford has also joined in by offering one of his properties to Brown at a discounted rate of 'mates rates' deal.
Furthermore, it has been reported that Brown's wealth was completely decimated by failed property investments, resulting in losses of millions of pounds, as per Sportbible.
Brown and his former wife Leanne got divorced last year, and during their marriage, they had three children. It has been suggested that Brown's expensive lifestyle has contributed to his current financial difficulties.
According to the report, a source said: “It may seem like Wes was earning big money — to most people he was — but the trouble was he was also trying to keep up with the lifestyle of team-mates earning five or six times more than he was.
“Most of his money disappeared in bad property deals. He overpaid on the farm that Leanne lives in. He spent something like £6 million or £7 million to buy that.
“They have tried to sell it but haven’t managed to, even after lowering the price to £4.75m. Any money left is tied up in the farm.
“A previous property of theirs was once listed at £4.5m but took seven years to sell, finally going for £2.4million — almost half price.”
Throughout his illustrious career, Brown won five Premier League titles, two Champions League trophies, two FA Cups, two League Cups, and two FA Community Shields while playing for Manchester United.
The defender also represented England on 23 occasions, scoring one goal.
