Harry Kane breaks another Premier League record in Tottenham’s defeat to Brentford

Harry Kane broke another Premier League record by netting a stunning effort in Tottenham’s 3-1 defeat to Brentford.

The Spurs star gave his side the lead at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with a wonderful goal from 25 yards after Dejan Kulusevski’s flicked free-kick.

As well as being his 30th goal in all competitions this term, it was a landmark effort as Kane became the first player to score in 25 different games across a 38-game Premier League season.

By comparison, Erling Haaland‘s 36 top-flight goals for Manchester City this term have come from 23 different fixtures.

Kane’s incredible strike proved meaningless as Brentford scored three second-half goals, but the manner in which he found the net stunned England legend Stuart Pearce.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Pearce said: “It’s brilliant work and brilliant set up.

“Before the ball was struck they’ve got four players in the eyeline of the goalkeeper and it was great movement from them, they’ve put a lot of pressure on him.

“Kane steps up and just whips the ball around the wall, around the guarding players and into the top corner.

 “It’s a magnificent free-kick from Harry Kane.”

Haaland has already broken the record for most goals ever in a Premier League season – with games to spare.

However, Kane’s 28 goals in the top-flight would be enough to win him the Golden Boot in 19 of the 30 seasons since the Premier League’s inception.

That’s despite playing for a Spurs team who are left seventh in the table following yet another defeat.
