Furious Ronaldo tweets after La Liga ref produces 'biggest robbery ever seen in football'
Brazil legend Ronaldo Nazario took to social media to slam the referee’s decision during Real Valladolid’s La Liga clash against Sevilla.
On Sunday afternoon, relegation-threatened Valladolid hosted Sevilla at the Estadio Jose Zorrilla.
With the match still level at 0-0 as the clock ticked towards half-time, a hugely controversial moment occurred.
After a corner was cleared away, Valladolid defender Sergio Escudero thought he had given his side the lead after his long-range effort went into the back of the net.
However, the goal was ruled out as referee Miguel Angel Ortiz Arias had already blown the half-time whistle.
Footage of the incident showed that the whistle was blown as the ball was hit.
As expected, Valladolid players and staff were absolutely furious with the decision as they surrounded the referee searching for an explanation.
To add salt to their wounds, Sevilla went on to win the match 3-0 thanks to goals from Rafa Mir, Papu Gomez and Jesus Corona.
After the match, Ronaldo, who is the president of Valladolid expressed his anger on social media.
He tweeted: “INADMISSIBLE what happened today in Zorrilla!
“Until now we had been silent trying to vindicate our dissatisfaction through official means, meetings and petitions, avoiding making a public exposure. But enough already! This is professional football and we demand explanations.”
He continued: “Mistakes of these dimensions can change an entire season.
“But let one thing be clear: we will fight EVERYTHING and EVERYONE because we are Real Valladolid.
“Our team, our fans and our city have given everything and no one is going to take it from us.”
