Full transcript of Klopp's exchange with referee Tierney revealed after Liverpool boss gets suspended
The FA has released the transcript of the exchange between Jurgen Klopp and referee Paul Tierney that ultimately led to the Liverpool boss getting a two-match ban.
The conversation took place after Klopp celebrated Liverpool's winning goal in the 4-3 win over Tottenham in the face of the fourth referee John Brooks.
The transcript reads: "Mr Brooks contacted Mr Tierney and said 'Jurgen Klopp has just run and celebrated in my face. I think it’s a yellow card mate, minimum'.
"The Video Assistant Referee reviewed the video footage and advised 'Confirming yellow card. Confirming yellow card Jurgen Klopp.'
"Mr Tierney went to Mr Klopp and showed him a yellow card, saying 'Right…I have to show you yellow. …it could be red, but I am going to show you yellow. He said yellow. We will give you the benefit of the doubt, don’t do anything more…'"
After the game, Klopp alleged that Tierney told him something that highlighted his bias against Liverpool.
PGMOL swiftly brushed those claims away saying that Tierney did not behave inappropriately at any point. As a result, Klopp's words resulted in a two-match ban for doubting the referee's integrity.
