Arsenal fan cancelled his family holiday so he could watch them win the league

An Arsenal who cancelled his family holiday in order to watch them win the Premier League could well be regretting his decision.

Mikel Arteta’s men have been leading the Premier League title race for the majority of the season but in recent weeks, they have allowed Manchester City to take control.

On Sunday afternoon, their title dream was further dented after goals from Julio Cesar Enciso, Deniz Undav and Pervis Estupinan sealed a 3-0 win for the Seagulls.

As a result, City only need to get two points from their remaining three matches to clinch their third consecutive title.

On the back of what happened on Sunday, a tweet from an Arsenal fan from January resurfaced. The fan had bravely cancelled his family holiday in order to watch the Gunners lift the title.

The fan tweeted: “About a year ago, my wife & I booked a family holiday to Mauritius, leaving 26 May. I recently found out our final home game is Wolves on 28 May.

“I had to cancel our holiday. MY WIFE IS RAGING. Too scared to go home. We better win the league. Pray for me.”

The tweet has attracted a lot of attention, with fans reacting after Arsenal’s latest defeat.

One fan said: “Awkward.”

Another tweeted: “Post the divorce papers bro.”

A third fan added: “A moment of silence for our fallen man.”

Someone else wrote: “This aged badly.”

When asked if the title race is over, Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard told Sky Sports: “Yes, it feels like that. I think it’s going to be very difficult to be honest. So yeah it’s a tough one to take.

“It’s not a good feeling at the moment especially the way we played in the second half. It’s a big, big disappointment and yes it feels like no hope now.”

If City win against Chelsea this Sunday, they will be confirmed as the champions of England once again.
