Anthony Gordon absolutely loved his return to Newcastle with Everton, their fans are furious

Anthony Gordon's celebration of Newcastle United's victory on his return to Goodison Park did not sit well with Everton supporters.

Gordon's emergence in the first team at Everton drew attention from various clubs such as Chelsea and Newcastle, impressed by his performances.

In the January transfer window, Gordon departed Everton and transferred to St. James' Park in a deal reportedly worth £45 million.

Reports that Gordon refused to train prior to his transfer have left Everton fans disgruntled with the way he exited the club.

On Thursday night, Gordon was included in the Newcastle squad that secured a convincing 4-1 victory at Goodison Park.

Gordon was substituted on in the 87th minute to a chorus of boos from the Everton fans.

After the match, Gordon angered the Toffees fanbase even more with his celebration.

The 22-year-old was seen clapping with a huge smile on his face and was later captured cheering and fist-pumping in the tunnel.

Everton fans were quick to slam Gordon on social media.

One said: “Anthony Gordon you massive rat. Never a blue.”

Another tweeted: “The cheek of Anthony Gordon to smile and laugh as he's being brought on.”

A third fan added: “Not a fan of Gordon’s antics after the match. poor from the lad.”

During his post-match press conference, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe spoke about the decision to bring Gordon on.

He said: “I’m guessing it was difficult for him. I had a chat with him at length yesterday and he was confident he’d be able to handle the environment after speaking to him.

“I think it was a good time to bring him on, to almost get it out of the way for him really, it’s played, it’s done. At that stage the game was pretty much over but I think mentally it was a really good thing for him to deal with mentally and hopefully he’ll move on now and focus on his career for us.”
