Video: Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney share heartwarming words in interview after Wrexham's promotion triumph

 

Following Wrexham's successful return to the English Football League, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney delivered an exceptional interview.

Before the weekend's matches, Wrexham was aware that a win against Boreham Wood would secure their promotion to League Two.

Nevertheless, their hopes were momentarily dashed as they conceded a goal less than a minute into the match due to a defensive error. 

However, Wrexham bounced back with goals from Elliott Lee and two from Paul Mullin, securing a 3-1 triumph.

Following the game, Reynolds and McElhenny, the Hollywood-based owners of Wrexham, delivered a heartwarming interview on the pitch.

Reynolds said: “I am not sure I can process what happened tonight. I am still a little speechless.

In addition, the actor known for his role in Deadpool paid tribute to Notts County, stating: “This entire story, the reason we are all on edge of our seats is because Notts County are so damn good. They deserve to go up. We are rooting for Notts County. We want to see them go up.”

“[People ask] 'Why Wrexham?'. This is why Wrexham. This happening, right now, is why. Boreham Wood showed up today. They are an incredible team. They have one of the best defences in the entire league.”

McElhenney then said: “Well I think we can hear what it feels to the town. It's a time of celebration and be welcomed into their community and be welcomed to this, it is the honour of my life.”

 McElhenney then showered praise on Wrexham's star player Mullin, saying:“I would like to say Paul Mullin is one of the greatest footballers in the world!”

 Ben Foster, the former goalkeeper of Manchester United who came out of retirement to play for Wrexham, stated:“This is my seventh game right and it is like home already this club is different. It is special.

“No where else that I would have come to. I know how much it means to them. Seven games I've played - oh my god they [Wrexham fans] are bonkers!”
