Ryan Reynolds brilliantly responds to Wrexham captain who fancies his 77-year-old mum

Ryan Reynolds has hilariously responded to Ben Tozer after the Wrexham captain openly admitted the Hollywood star’s mum is “not a bad-looking woman at 77.”

Wrexham are edging closer to an automatic promotion spot to League Two after their thrilling 3-2 win over Notts County in the National League.

The Welsh side are three points clear of Notts County after their top-of-the-table clash on Monday, with Wrexham also having a match in hand over their title challengers.

Ben Foster, who made a stunning U-turn on his retirement, was widely praised after he saved a crucial injury time penalty for Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground.

Tozer appeared on talkSPORT on Tuesday and was asked by presenter Laura Woods about rumours that Reynolds’ mum flirted with him.

Responding to Woods, he said: “Not quite [the] favourite, I don’t think, but we had a lovely hug, though. She’s not a bad-looking woman at 77 […].”

Reynolds on Wednesday took to Twitter and hilariously suggested that Tozer could be his “new stepdad” if Wrexham are promoted from the National League.

“Get promoted and I’ll make you my new stepdad, Tozer,” he tweeted.

Reynolds, who took over Wrexham with fellow actor Rob McElhenney in 2020, admitted that he was at a “loss for words” after Foster’s heroics for Wrexham.

“I don’t feel like I have a heart anymore,” he told BT Sport.
“I think I used all the beats that I had left during that match, that was unlike anything I’ve ever seen before and indicative of course of all of you lifers who’ve watched and participated in this game, this beautiful, torturous game forever.

“I’m actually grateful in this moment that I didn’t care about this years ago because it would have just eaten me alive, that was really something.”

He continued: “Usually I’m not lost for words, but I’m genuinely at a loss for words in this moment, I don’t quite know how to quantify what happened.

“I feel an immense sense of pride, I mean the strength, the inner strength that these guys have -- it’s such a mental game clearly, you know they just brought it in a way.”
