"Ronaldo's goals are lucky ones but Messi's are always golazos': Sergio Aguero
Sergio Aguero was unimpressed with Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo’s goals for Real Madrid. He praised other players instead and said that Lionel Messi had a better goal catalogue.
Social media creator and fellow Kings League team owner Ibai Llanos recently forced Sergio Aguero to watch the top 20 goals of Cristiano Ronaldo’s career.
The former Manchester City striker also went on to praise his friend and former teammate, Lionel Messi.
“Ronaldo’s goals are free kicks and lucky ones… Messi’s are always golazos.
And as a result, Twitter users became convinced that the former Manchester City and Barcelona striker was 'hating' on the former Real Madrid and Manchester United star.
Aguero is very close to Lionel Messi, Ronaldo's greatest rival, with the pair sharing an infamous period of dominance in football with Luka Modric the only other player to win the Ballon d'Or from 2007-2021.
One fan took to the social media platform to claim Aguero's reaction evidenced the fact that Argentinians were still intimidated by Ronaldo despite recently lifting the World Cup trophy.
They wrote: 'Sergio Aguero really said these free-kicks are "lucky" and the goal against Porto was the goalkeeper's fault.
'They have won the World Cup, but Cristiano Ronaldo still has the whole country rattled lmao,' followed by a laughing emoji.
Another echoed the idea there were personally feelings contributing to Aguero's opinions, adding: 'Man really hates Ronaldo.'
A third agreed, claiming: 'I love Aguero but mans was just straight hating,' with several laughing emojis.
For a fourth football fan it represented the latest in a string of examples where the Argentinian has taken issue with a specific player, writing: 'Biggest weirdo I’ve seen in my life.
'One of my favourite ever strikers in the Premier League era but since he’s retired he has this obsessive attitude with rival players and teams, not just Ronaldo, he did the same to (Eduardo) Camavinga after the World Cup final.'
The Argentine striker bizarrely branded Camavinga a 'd***face' while streaming in the wake of Argentina's penalty shoot-out defeat of France in the World Cup final, which left 500,000 viewers bemused.
And a fifth Twitter user simply asked: 'Why is Aguero such a hater?'
Man City's record goal scorer was forced to retire in 2021 after suffering a heart scare will playing for Barcelona.
But since hanging up his boots he has rarely been far from the action, notably during the Qatar World Cup in December.
Aguero was present for Argentina's victory celebrations, and was even photographed in an Albiceleste shirt holding the trophy with his former team-mates.
He also took part in former team-mate Gerard Pique's Kings League tournament - a five aside competition combining street football and Twitch streaming earlier in 2023.
But off the field he made a splash, too, weighing in on the bizarre rift between Lionel Messi and Mexican boxing star Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.
