Manchester United Star Bruno Fernandes Pictured with Crutches and Protective Boot Amid Rising Injury Worries
A social media post has been uploaded by the wife of Bruno Fernandes, a Manchester United star, that features a picture of the midfielder using crutches and wearing a protective boot.
On Sunday, during the FA Cup semi-final match against Brighton, Fernandes had to leave the game during extra time. United eventually won the match by succeeding in a penalty shootout.
As a result of an ankle injury, Fernandes was unable to finish the game, and thus, did not participate in the proceedings which led to United's win via a penalty shootout.
According to ESPN, the issue arose during the first half of the game, and there were discussions held on the bench at that time about potentially substituting Fernandes.
Despite the discussions held on the bench, Fernandes continued to play for the entire 90 minutes of the match. It is reasonable to assume that he would have been disappointed when Erik ten Hag finally made the decision to take him out of the game.
However, the United captain on the day stationed himself on the touchline for the remainder of the game, providing instructions to his team-mates as they attempted to secure a first FA Cup final appearance since 2016.
Now, a fresh concern has been raised over the extent of the injury.
Taking to Instagram, the player's wife, Ana Pinho, posted an image of Fernandes wearing protection around his ankle and foot, alongside a 'recharging' emoji.
Two leg splints and a pair of crutches can also be seen next to the United star, with the club yet to confirm the extent of the injury or whether he will feature in Thursday's clash against Tottenham. Ten Hag did not comment on the injury after United's penalty shootout victory at Wembley.

According to ESPN, Fernandes was set to undergo an assessment on Monday, and his potential involvement in the upcoming game was seemingly contingent on the results of those tests.
If Fernandes were to be absent, it would deal a significant blow to United, as they are aiming to win the fixture to bolster their chances of finishing in the top four and securing qualification for the Champions League in the next season.
