Man Utd star Christian Eriksen says he STILL hasn't received his Carabao Cup winner's medal
Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has revealed that he still hasn’t received his Carabao Cup winners medal.
United lifted the trophy back in February their first piece of silverware since 2017.
Erik ten Hag’s first season has seen his side lift a trophy at the first time of asking as the Red Devils beat Newcastle 2-0 at Wembley.
Their route to the final was fairly straightforward with a home match in every round, two of which were against lower-league opposition.
Nevertheless, they still picked up the cup but one player who wasn’t involved on the day still hasn’t received his winner's medal.
Eriksen who moved to Old Trafford last summer was unavailable for the game due to an injury but still celebrated on the pitch with the players after the game.
Despite not yet receiving a medal, he’s optimistic it will come.
What did he say?
“I haven’t got it yet, no. I’m supposed to get one. I will get a medal at some point. It’s different though when you don’t play in the final.” He said, as reported by United in Focus.
“Obviously [those who played] get it [winners medal] on the pitch, celebrate and do their stuff. And there’s me limping around in a boot, trying not to do too much. But still, you want to be a part of it.”
Eriksen featured in every Carabao Cup game aside from the final so it’s safe to say he’s earnt a medal.
He returned to action on Saturday coming off the bench as part of United’s 2-0 win over Everton.
The victories mean they remain on course to qualify for next season’s Champions League and there’s also an opportunity for more silverware in the FA Cup and Europa League.
The Dane has been a huge part of Ten Hag’s debut season successes and hopes to be involved in more finals before the end of the campaign.
He came out in support of the players when he was sidelined, saying: “It’s also been part of the mindset – the more games they win, the more cups they continue in, the more games and possibilities of playing a final I will have.
“For me, this is a good time to come back, to be ready for the last push.”
