Chelsea Star Raheem Sterling to Sponsor University Education for 14 Underprivileged Students
Raheem Sterling, the winger for Chelsea, has exhibited his benevolent nature by volunteering to finance the college education of 14 impoverished students.
Sterling's scholarships have been specifically allocated to individuals of black, African, and Caribbean ancestry, with the objective of addressing the inequality disparity.
After research revealed that less than five percent of Black Britons were enrolled in degree programs at prestigious universities in the UK, Sterling took action.
According to SunSport, the Chelsea player has pledged to fund the higher education of seven students at The University of Manchester and King's College London for the next three years.
While on the go, the 28-year-old English athlete revealed his optimism that the project will have a positive impact on the recipients' lives.
“I hope this initiative will be a real game changer," The Sun quoted Sterling saying.
At a time when Sterling has faced difficulties at Stamford Bridge, his admirable initiative has emerged.
The Evening Standard reported that the ex-Manchester City player has failed to leave a significant impression at Chelsea since he relocated to the capital in 2022's summer.
Sterling's performance and consistency have suffered significantly due to injuries, as he has only scored four goals in the Premier League from 18 appearances.
As Chelsea aims for a spot in European football by the end of the season, the former Liverpool star will likely seek to play a vital role.
