Chelsea squad excitedly embraces Pochettino's appointment as their new manager
Chelsea players demonstrate eagerness for Mauricio Pochettino to take on the position of the club's next permanent head coach.
After a series of encouraging discussions between the Argentine manager and Chelsea, Pochettino has emerged as the leading contender for the permanent head coach position, succeeding Graham Potter.
Chelsea's growing admiration for Pochettino is progressing, and the club aims to finalize their decision on a new head coach soon, with the help of co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart.
According to sources, the potential appointment of Pochettino has been met with enthusiasm and positivity within the Chelsea dressing room, with players reportedly excited about the prospect.
Chelsea's English players have colleagues on the national team who have previously played under Pochettino at Tottenham Hotspur, and there is recognition within the squad for his coaching abilities, as well as his reputation for being an effective man-manager and motivator.
Additionally, Pochettino's coaching background and experience, having managed Paris Saint-Germain among other notable teams, are seen as fitting for Chelsea by some of the more seasoned and accomplished members of the club's squad.
However, not all of Chelsea's players would be pleased with Pochettino's arrival, as the 51-year-old manager intends to support proposals for a squad overhaul, reducing the current 31-man roster in preparation for the upcoming pre-season.
Pochettino currently leads the shortlist of three candidates, which includes Vincent Kompany and an anonymous contender, after Chelsea conducted extensive background checks on Arne Slot of Feyenoord and Ange Postecoglou of Celtic.
Initially, Chelsea had concerns that Pochettino's past affiliation with Tottenham Hotspur could present a challenge, but those concerns have since decreased considerably. Pochettino reportedly does not view his previous connection to Spurs as a problem, as he has not been approached regarding the current vacancy at the club.
If Tottenham Hotspur or Real Madrid were to make a last-minute attempt to acquire Pochettino, he would have to make a decision. However, at present, there appear to be no obstacles preventing him from accepting an offer from Chelsea should they present one.
