West Ham have been slammed by their own women's team for stadium snub
West Ham have been slammed by their own women's team for denying opportunities.
West Ham women are currently seventh in the Women's Super League, with 16 points from as many games this season.
The team are managed by former Hammers and Fulham left-back Paul Konchesky and play their home games at the 6,000 capacity Victoria Road, home of National League outfit Dagenham and Redbridge.
Part of Barclays' sponsorship means every WSL team must play at least one game at the men's ground per season but West Ham's side are yet to take to the London Stadium pitch.
Last weekend they played in front of 27,919 fans against Manchester United at Old Trafford and yet were snubbed for an opportunity, with the club's Under 18's playing at the 62,500 capacity arena instead.
They take on Southampton on Thursday 6 April, a few days after the women's side take on Liverpool in Dagenham.
And defender Lucy Parker, in the frame to become a full England international, took to Twitter to share her frustrations.
"Taking nothing away from the lads, because they more than deserve it after their year," she wrote, quote-tweeting a post advertising tickets for the Under 18 clash.
"But when will we get a game at the stadium? Only WSL side not to have a game at the men's stadium and haven't played there since 2019. Made an FA Cup semi-final last year, so can't be that."
Women's football in England is on the rise after the Lionesses' incredible Euro 2022 triumph in front of a sold-out Wembley Stadium.
But West Ham have not played at the stadium since 2019 and according to the Daily Mail, new directors Karren Brady, Tara Warren and Nicola Keye are placing a focus on changing that in the near future.
Of all the WSL sides, they are the only ones to have not played a league game at the men's ground for the extra level of exposure.
