WATCH: Footage of Scott McTominay playing as a striker emerges after he scored four in two matches for Scotland
After netting four goals in two matches for Scotland, footage of Scott McTominay playing as a striker during his academy days has emerged.
Last weekend, McTominay netted a second-half brace for Scotland as they sealed a 3-0 win over Cyprus.
On Tuesday night, not many gave Steve Clarke’s side much hope as they hosted Spain at Hampden Park.
However, McTominay turned on the style once again as he netted twice in what was a special night of football in Glasgow.
With seven minutes on the clock, the Manchester United midfielder arrived at the right time to sweep home Andy Robertson’s pull back.
In the 51st minute, McTominay was in the right place at the right time again to slam home his second, bringing his tally to four for the latest international break.
Now, footage of the 26-year-old playing as a striker during his academy days with United has emerged.
McTominay often wore the no.9 on his back as he showcased his neat finishing skills in and around the penalty area.
However, despite playing as a forward in his early career, McTominay is now primarily deployed as a defensive midfielder for the Old Trafford club.
After seeing the video, fans have been reacting on social media, calling on Erik ten Hag to move McTominay further up the pitch.

One said: “We really had our Evan Ferguson and turned him into a midfielder.”
Another tweeted: “Honestly if we beat Sevilla by like 2 or 3 goals we should try him up front and see what he can do.”
A third fan added: “He'll definitely do better than Weghost.”
Someone else wrote: “Wouldn’t be the worst idea tbh our midfield is fairly packed with Bruno, Eriksen, Fred, Sabi and Casemiro.”
Whilst a fifth commented: “His striker instincts is natural. The reason he gets missing from midfield into the opposing team’s half.”
After the match, McTominay said: “As a kid, I was an attacking midfielder - I like to get in the box. I've got to keep doing that, I know I can add more goals and assists to my game.”
