'They got £50m and they are booing him ... They should respect him': Chilwell praised for controversial celebration v Leicester

Ben Chilwell received a frosty reception from Leicester fans as he returned to his former club last weekend.

As the Chelsea left-back scored the opener in what ended up in a 3-1 win for the Blues, he cupped his ears in a gesture to the home crowd.

“They got £50-odd million for this kid, a left-back, out of Covid, and they are booing him,” Rio Ferdinand told FIVE of Chilly and his gesture.

“But they got more than they probably should have got for him. He did great job there, part of the league-winning team, and they are booing him for going to Chelsea.

“It doesn’t make sense. So good, I’m glad he did that (celebrated in front of the Leicester fans). Give them a bit back; they deserved it. They should respect him.”
