'The outside world can be intense, especially when you cost lots of money': Klopp on Nunez & Gakpo
Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo arrived at Liverpool with a lot of expectations placed upon them by fans and media. This is especially true in the case of the Uruguayan, who was signed on an £85m fee last summer; the Dutchman, who arrived on the back of the successful World Cup on a £37m fee, was also expected to begin delivering fast.
It took them a few weeks to 'click' but the pair were exceptional in a 7-0 thrashing of Man United last week, scoring two goals each.
"They deal very well with it, so do we, we don't put extra pressure on the players, we never do," Jurgen Klopp said when asked about the pressure felt by Cody and Darwin.
"But the outside world can be an intense place, especially when you cost lots of money.
"A lot [has been] written and said. We like Cody's contribution and same for Darwin like it was Luis and Diogo when they came in.
"Scouting can never be perfect because you never know the player until they are with you but it's been spot on with them."
