Tebas: 'I want Gavi to stay at Barca but it's impossible to register his contract at the moment'
"I like Gavi. We all want him to stay at Barcelona. But he has a salary that cannot be registered as of now, as Barca exceeds the salary limit by 200 million," Javier Tebas has said.
"We cannot break the rules. Barca has a solution -- cut expenses, increase profits... levers will no longer work."
The court which originally allowed Barca to register Gavi's contract overturned its decision following an appeal from La Liga. As a clarification, the decision was overturned on a technicality and not because the club's case was wrong.
However, it appears that the youngster will continue to be considered a first-team player by the Catalans.
