Prosecutors find no evidence of Barcelona bribing referees

The Prosecutors Office is yet to find clear evidence of Barcelona making any kind of payments to influence referee decisions, El Periodico report.

EFE confirm that the Treasury did not find any evidence that the payments made to Negreira's company had an impact on Barca's results over the years.

Thus, the club's version that the payments to Negreira's company were made in return for reports on various referees seems to hold true.

Former Barca officials like Josep Maria Bartomeu, Sandro Rosell, Oscar Grau and others may still remain under investigation for corruption but the club -- the institution -- appears to be in the clear.

Barcelona, which denies wrongdoing, has been under scrutiny since the club’s payments became public. The payments were initially investigated as part of a tax probe into the company.
