Manchester City Striker Haaland Probed by Police for Using Smartphone While Driving

Erling Haaland, the Manchester City striker, is being investigated by the Greater Manchester Police for allegedly using his smartphone while driving.

On March 15, Haaland was photographed using his phone while driving his £300,000 Rolls-Royce on a dual carriageway in Manchester's New Islington, near the Etihad Stadium, a day after he scored five goals for City in a 7-0 Champions League victory over RB Leipzig.

Haaland could face the possibility of losing his license, as anyone caught using a phone while driving can be fined up to £200 and receive six penalty points. If the driver has passed their test within the last two years, their license can be revoked.

The use of mobile phones while driving has been illegal since 2003, and the law has been strengthened since then. As of March 25, 2022, any interaction with a phone while driving is illegal and carries a penalty, even when the vehicle is stationary at traffic lights or in traffic.
