LaLiga chief Tebas on Negreira case: "I don't think Barca bought referees"

Javier Tebas never misses an opportunity to talk about the 'Negreira case' although this time he has been more benevolent than usual towards Barcelona. The president of LaLiga has assured that he does not believe in any way that the Catalan club uses the money to buy any referee.

"I don't think Barça have bought referees, but they did pay Negreira when he was vice-president of the committee. And this is a fact" said Tebas, who once again insisted on the necessity for Joan Laporta to give explanations to the club's socios.

"Barça are a very important club for the league but hiding is not the way, an explanation must be given and Barça must give one to their socios."

Furthermore, Tebas also assured that he does not question in any way the success Barça have achieved in recent years despite the information regarding the payments.

"I do not question Barça's success," he added. "Neither the treble nor the sextete. But there is a conduct that has to be judged".

And in this sense, the president of LaLiga has taken care to emphasise that the case is time-barred in sporting terms, so no punishment can be applied, but has remarked that if that was not the case, "it could have ended with expulsion from the league or relegation."

And the LaLiga president still thinks that if he does not give the relevant explanations, Laporta should resign from his post -- but that if he called him he, would pick up the phone without any problems.
