Jose Mourinho given 'remarkable offer' to take West Ham job amid reports David Moyes could leave

Jose Mourinho has reportedly been identified by West Ham as the ideal choice to take over as manager – if David Moyes is sacked.

The current Roma boss has been 'delivered a remarkable offer' by the Hammers to make a stunning return to the Premier League, according to reports.

Italian media outlet LaRoma24.it claim West Ham are adamant that Mourinho would be the best choice to replace Moyes, with the Portuguese apparently flattered by the ‘rich contract’ offer on the table.

Hammers owner David Sullivan delivered an 11-word statement on Moyes' future after the club's harrowing 4-0 defeat at Brighton on Saturday, saying: "We are behind the manager despite a very poor performance today.”

But that hasn't stopped rumours circulating about Moyes' future. The Scot was subjected to chants of "you're getting sacked in the morning" by his own fans at Brighton and he's the current bookmakers' favourite to be the next Premier League manager fired.

“I totally understand,” said Moyes when asked about the chants.

"There was anger from everybody. Anger from the supporters, anger from the manager. The players are angry, they’re disappointed with themselves."

Reports claim Rafa Benitez, Ange Postecoglu and Mauricio Pochettino are all being considered by West Ham if and when they pull the trigger on Moyes. Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick has also been linked with the job.

The Hammers face a two-legged Europa Conference League clash with AEK Larnaca, either side of a vital Premier League game at home to Aston Villa this weekend.

As for Mourinho, there have been murmurs that he may be becoming unhappy at Roma. He's been in charge in the Italian capital since the summer of 2021 and helped them win the inaugural Conference League last season; the Giallorossi are currently fourth in Serie A.

In recent weeks, the 'Special One' has been linked with a third spell in charge of Chelsea, amid reports that Graham Potter could lose his job.
