Ivan Toney gave fascinating insight into his penalty-taking technique live on Sky Sports, he is the GOAT from 12 yards
Ivan Toney has hilariously broken down his thought process when taking a penalty, while explaining his goal celebration after netting for Brentford on Monday night.
The Bees beat their west London rivals Fulham 3-2 in an entertaining clash in which Toney scored a vital spot-kick, amid a backdrop of betting charges against the striker's name – that may result in a ban from the game.
That couldn't have been further from Toney's mind at the Gtech Community Stadium on Monday, however, as the 26-year-old slotted home coolly from the penalty spot to put Brentford 2-1 in front. It was the 22nd penalty he'd scored for the club.
Mathias Jensen's goal sealed the win before Carlos Vinicius' late stoppage-time consolation for Fulham, after Ethan Pinnock's opener had been cancelled out by Manor Solomon.
Toney was made to wait to take his penalty but revealed to Sky Sports reporter Patrick Davison after the match that he was able to relax his mind before putting his kick beyond Bernd Leno.
"The wait doesn't matter," said Toney. "I can just compose myself and walk away. I can think of different things."
Davison then asked him: "What were you thinking about?"
And Toney replied: "Like I said before, just being on holiday and chilling.
"I think it was a penalty and the keeper didn't move, but I've always got a spot where I put the ball and that's in the back of the net. So no panicking and think what you're going to do when you've scored."

Toney revealed he changed his penalty technique when he missed one and has had huge success with his new approach from 12 yards.
He said: "I thought of a different technique to make sure I had a different chance of scoring, and it's working out alright at the moment, so fingers crossed it continues!"
On his celebration, which appeared to be a carbon copy of the one Fulham's Aleksandr Mitrovic does – as well as a nod to the birth of his baby son – Toney added: "I'm a fan of Mitro, so I've got to do his celebration. And obviously the goal for my little son, newborn, so no sleep for me for a while, trust me!"
