'How can Sterling mark Kane on a corner?': Potter told he 'wouldn't last' at Chelsea 20 years ago
Mario Melchiot played for Chelsea between 1999 and 2004 and has claimed that Graham Potter gets too much patience from the board, the press and the fans.
The Englishman has won just two games out of last 15 — and the former Blues defender insists Potter would have been sacked had he managed Chelsea at the turn of the century.
"In my time, Graham Potter wouldn't last, that's all I can say. I feel sorry for him, but with results like this... I have to be sorry and make a change," Melchior told ESPN.
"He starts talking about All Or Nothing of Arsenal, little things that are not necessary. What is important now is picking your starting XI and sticking with it. Then you focus on the details.
"How can one of your midfielders be one-on-one with one of Dortmund's quickest players? How can Raheem Sterling mark one of the best strikers in England, Harry Kane, on a corner? Come on, guys. These are things I don't agree with."
