"He’s just unbelievable.”: Yaya Toure raves about 'unbelievable' Arsenal player
Former Manchester City star Yaya Toure has lavished praise on Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey amid his side's push for the Premier League title this season. The Gunners currently sit five points clear of their rivals in the race to the top of the league, with 12 games to get themselves over the line.
They managed such a margin after a last-gasp winner over Bournemouth at the weekend, where the side had to fight from 2-0 down. Partey and Ben White pulled the game level before Reiss Nelson's finish in the seventh minute of injury time ensured the north London outfit stayed ahead in the race for the title.
"The team and individuals today showed a different level of will to win and determination and initiative," Mikel Arteta responded when asked about his side's ability to bounce back. "Because when the game gets ugly there is a moment when you can lose momentum and start to hide and navigate through the game.
"But the players didn’t do that. They wanted the game, they wanted the ball every time, they took risks, they took the initiative, they kept trying until we broke them down and it was great to see that from the team."
Since then, former Manchester City player and Tottenham coach Yaya Toure had his say on the game and the title, telling TalkSPORT: "At the moment, it is really tight. Man City are just playing really well and are hoping Arsenal will drop points. I think Arsenal will drop points. It is a long way still, the pressure is there. Man United are still doing well, Liverpool a brilliant result a few days ago, and Arsenal are competing fantastically well.
"Sometimes a team who can become champions you can always smell that luck and positivity. When I see games most of the time, you can feel champions when the team score and the camaraderie between the players and the celebrations and enjoying playing for each other."
Toure also singled out Partey for some praise too, adding: "Yeah he’s [Partey] brilliant, it’s really nice to see. I think now every weekend when Arsenal have to play, I have to be honest, I would go just to watch him. He’s just unbelievable.”
