'Difficult for us to understand': Fulham boss Silva slams referees for some decisions vs United

"Let’s talk about all the game and not just one moment. Until the penalty we were clear [sic] the best team of the pitch – clear," Fulham head coach Marco Silva told ITV after his side lost to Man United 3-1 in the FA Cup quarter-final.

The [red card] was a decision that VAR can make. What is difficult for us to understand is why the two moments in their box in the first half: one of them is a clear penalty on Mitrovic, and no one checks, no one wants to see anything…"

Silva also disagreed with his own sending-off: "If you ask me whether it should be a red card, I have big doubts. I would like to know what the referee will write [in his report] about what I said to him."

The episode in the first half that Silva referred to is Lisandro Martinez's challenge on Mitrovic in the Man United box. The Fulham striker fell down theatrically in an attempt to convince the referee that he was fouled - but to no avail.

Silva can't really fault the referees for any of the three red cards shown to his team, including one to himself. In the end, Fulham have only themselves to blame for the meltdown and losing the chance to play at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final.
