"Winning the 3 domestic trophies [La Liga, Copa del Rey, Spanish Supercopa] would be extraordinary. However, we need to do better in Europe. When I arrived here, I expected to go further in the Champions League," Frenkie de Jong has told RAC1.
"The last two years in Europe have been quite difficult for us, but we hope to do better next season. We have a much better team this year," the Dutchman added.
Since De Jong signed for Barcelona in 2019, the Catalans have suffered a 8-2 defeat to Bayern Munich, got heavily beaten by Paris Saint-Germain and didn't even get to the last 16 in the last two campaigns.
Basically, Frenkie's last memorable European campaign came when he was still at Ajax, in 2018/19 when they reached the Champions League semifinals.
