"Cristiano is the best player I ever played with.": Luka Modric reveal
Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has named his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo as the best player he has ever played with.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric were teammates at Real Madrid for six years between 2012 and 2018. Modric described Ronaldo’s work ethic as the most special thing about the Portuguese superstar, who currently plies his trade for Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr.
Luka Modric also said that the demand that Cristiano Ronaldo put on himself and Real Madrid was unbelievable. “Cristiano is the best player I ever played with. The most special thing about Cristiano Ronaldo is his work ethic,” Modric said on Rio Ferdinand’s Vibe with Five YouTube channel.
“He always wants more and more. He’s never happy with what he does. This is amazing. The demand he put on himself and the team was unbelievable.”

Luka Modric was asked to choose the best five-a-side team comprising of players he has played with. Modric named Sergio Ramos, Toni Kroos, Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, and Ivan Rakitic in his best five-a-side team.
Luka Modric also gave mentions to Casemiro and Karim Benzema. “Ramos, Cristiano, Kroos, Bale, and I would say Rakitic because I can’t have all from Real Madrid, but of course Casemiro and Benzema too,” the Real Madrid midfielder said.
Sergio Ramos currently plays for Paris Saint-Germain, but the Spaniard is a Real Madrid icon and has shared the pitch with Modric.
Gareth Bale, who announced his retirement from football earlier this year, has also played with Luka Modric at Real Madrid. Modric remains a teammate of both Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos, who are still with Real Madrid.
Luka Modric also played with Casemiro at Real Madrid before the Brazilian international left the Spanish side to join Manchester United in the summer transfer window of 2022. Ivan Rakitic and Luka Modric meanwhile are compatriots and they have played together at Croatia national football team.
Meanwhile, Luka Modric’s current contract with Real Madrid is due to expire at the end of the current campaign. He has not yet renewed his contract with the Spanish behemoths. It remains to be seen where he will be at the start of the next season.
