Chelsea ‘ready to build new £2bn stadium’ – considering three London grounds to play at for 4 years
Chelsea are planning to bulldoze Stamford Bridge and construct a new stadium on the same site, claims the Daily Mail.
The construction of a new ground could cost the owners up to £2bn – as they want to build a new state-of-the-art stadium that can hold over 60,000 fans.
There could be some challenges to this because of Railway and Tube Lines close to Stamford Bridge, but it’s expected to be done.
Todd Boehly has spoken to American billionaire Shahid Khan about potentially using Fulham’s Craven Cottage stadium to host their home games when Stamford Bridge is being rebuilt.
Another possibility is playing most Premier League games at Craven Cottage, while Champions League and major Premier League matches are held at Wembley Stadium or Twickenham.
The Blues could be forced to play their home games in another London stadium for up to four years if the Stamford Bridge rebuild plans go through.
