Casemiro – 9, Weghorst – 4.5: Rating Man United players in narrow Real Betis win
Casemiro – 9
After his disappointment at the weekend, Casemiro barely allowed that to affect his form. He was back to his best in a return to Spain, absolutely bossing the midfield battle. Not just that, but Case also created four scoring chances and assisted Rashford’s screamer. Won 9/14 ground duels, made two interceptions and 12 possession recoveries in a fantastic display.
Lisandro Martinez – 8
Licha did not let the 50k+ crowd deter him and was ice cold against Betis’ attacking pressure. Kept things relatively quiet and made some clutch challenges to avert disaster. Made three interceptions and six recoveries in another solid outing.
Bruno Fernandes – 7.5
While he might not have gotten a goal contribution, Fernandes was really lively in midfield. He created four major chances and was able to exploit the gaps in Betis’ backline. He also worked hard defensively, helping his side see out the storm and avoid any potential disaster.
Harry Maguire – 7.5
Despite having a shaky start, Maguire dealt strongly in a tough environment. He maintained a sturdy backline with Martinez and made a number of key challenges. Won 3/3 aerial duels, made four clearances and two interceptions to frustrate the hosts.
Marcus Rashford – 7
Rashford had a weird game. He was relatively quiet in the first half, but got a number of huge chances after the break. Missed a few sitters before scoring a screamer, balancing things out and getting the winner for his side.
Facundo Pellistri – 7
In his first-ever start for UInited, Pellistri made a decent showcase for himself. Took time to adapt to the environment, but showcased an impressive desire to take on players with his dribbles and get into empty spaces. Excited fans with some brilliant forward runs and set up some nice chances too. Should get more regular minutes after this.
Wout Weghorst – 4.5
Just not as involved as a no.9 at United should normally be. Look sloggy in the final third and was too indecisive with some of his passes. Couldn’t get himself at the end of many chances and failed to beat the keeper with attempts he did make. Still got lots to improve.
