Arsenal legend identifies worrying 'problem' that Bukayo Saka will face in the future
Paul Merson, the former midfielder for Arsenal, has cautioned Bukayo Saka that as his career progresses, he will encounter greater difficulties. Saka, who is only 21 years old, has had an exceptional season, establishing himself as one of Europe's most promising talents.
He has been a key contributor to Mikel Arteta's team, propelling them to an eight-point lead at the top of the table. Saka's outstanding performances have earned him adulation from Arsenal supporters, and his contribution to England's 2-0 Euro 2024 qualifying victory over Ukraine, including a goal and an assist, garnered him the man-of-the-match award at Wembley.
However, with the world at his feet, things are about to get harder for Saka - or at least that's the opinion of Merson.
Merson: Saka will find things harder
Merson has theorised that clubs will will start to gang up on Saka, and stop the ball getting to him.
“The problem he will find is because of the position he plays he will find things harder at some stage,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“As he becomes more well known, teams will put him on the radar a lot more.
“Teams will look to stop the ball getting to him and they will also double up on him very quickly.
“He will have to change his game again to combat that, but he has the temperament to handle that."
Merson went on to wax lyrical about the youngster, believing the sky is the limit.
“But he just loves football," added Merson.
"All he wants is to play football and he plays the game with a smile on his face. He has all the ingredients to go as far as he wants in the game."
