Ancelotti names three players better than Argentina captain Lionel Messi

Real Madrid manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has insisted that Lionel Messi is not the best footballer in history.

Ancelotti stated this during a press conference on Thursday.

Messi scored the 800th goal of his professional career against Panama on Thursday and he is now one short of the 100-goal mark for the national squad.

According to him, there have been many greats like Diego Maradona, Alfredo Di Stefano and Johann Cruyff, who have played the game.

He said: “Messi the best in history? He’s a great player but I can’t say who’s been the best.

“There have been so many wonderful players… Maradona, Di Stéfano, Cruyff.. I don’t know.”

Messi is being widely regarded as the greatest of all time (GOAT), after he ‘completed’ football by winning the 2022 World Cup with Argentina.

The Argentine football hero became the second-ever player to reach 800 goals, 30 goals behind his rival Cristiano Ronaldo.
