The Spanish side went into the play-off round second leg, having been 3-0 winners on home soil just a week ago, despite struggling in La Liga this season.
They had high hopes of making it into the last 16 of the competition that they have won on six occasions, all of them since 2006.
In the second leg, Luuk de Jong gave the Dutch side a lead in the 77th minute and Fabio Silva then netted in the fifth minute of injury time, to really scare the visitors.
However, it was the sight of a home supporter running onto the pitch and heading straight for Dmitrovic that will live long in the memory.
The fan squared up to the keeper and then threw a punch, but Dmitrovic was able to get him to the ground, before pinning him down as security got to the scene, as you can see in the video below.

The ugly scenes really marred the game, and the 31-year-old goalkeeper was lucky that what transpired wasn't more serious, before stewards took the man away.
Speaking after the match, Sevilla boss Jorge Sampaoli was unsurprisingly not happy with the situation. "What happened today seems very serious to me," he said in his post match press conference.
"I don't know the type of sanction I should have taken, because it should have been more severe.
"It is incredibly sad that this has happened. I find it worrying; this type of thing needs to stop.
"We need to work together to ensure it does. This cannot happen again in the future."
It is not the first time recently that a goalkeeper has been attacked by a fan recently, with Aaron Ramsdale kicked by a fan following the north London derby.
On that occasion the supporter was able to sneak back into the crowd, with his friends attempting to hide him, but he was spotted and later arrested.
PSV did have the chance to level things up late in injury time, when Xavi Simons had a chance that appeared to be blocked before going for a goal kick.
The young midfielder was booked for arguing with the officials and after the referee blew for full time, just moments later, Mauro Junior managed to earn himself a red card for continuing to remonstrate.
The match will unfortunately not be remembered for the action though, and instead for the idiot who attacked the Sevilla keeper, he'll have the last laugh in the next round of the Europa League at least.
