WATCH: Azzedine Ounahi scored on his debut for Marseille
Only three days after the formalization of his arrival, Azzedine Ounahi is already shining with Olympique de Marseille.
Signed from Angers for 8 million euros, the Moroccan attacking midfielder made an impressive debut against FC Nantes (2-0), during match day 21st of Ligue 1.
Azzedine Ounahi started from the bench at kick-off, the former Angevin replaced Alexis Sanchez in the 73rd minute of play before scoring his first goal in the Marseille colors, in the last seconds of the game.
Azzedine Ounahi put the icing on the cake by making a mockery of Andrei Girotto before coolly dispatching past Lafont. Even after a somewhat unconvincing display, OM were worthy winners.
“His talent is there”
The first appearance of the native of Casablanca obviously did not leave coach Igor Tudor indifferent.
Asked by the channel Prime Video at the final whistle, the Croatian coach praised the first minutes played by his rookie, one of the three reinforcements in January with Ukrainian attacking midfielder Ruslan Malinovskyi and Portuguese striker Vitinha.
“Yes, I enjoyed it. We know he has that talent. He is not yet fully physically fit. He has to adapt to our way of playing. It will take time, but his talent is there. We knew he was there. Amazing, amazing, amazing!”
