'They had a white owner so it’s fine': Some City fans bring Chelsea's spending up amid allegations
Man City have found themselves in major trouble after the Premier League charged them for major financial wrongdoings.
The Citizens have been accused of financial breaches for over nine years.
If found guilty, they could face major punishments like point deductions and even relegation to the Championship.
Man City fans are extremely bitter to see their club in disarray and some have suddenly brought up Chelsea’s recent spending to make themselves look like victims.
Here is what some City fans had to remark on Reddit.
Foz97: “I find it funnier it being announced a week after Chelsea have finished their 600m plus spent on transfers this season.”
Joltarts: “What investigations? We spend 50mil on a striker and everyone lost their heads.Chelsea won’t be investigated because they are part of the old elites.”
Aim_016: “It's funny how this always happens to us as if real Madrid, Barcelona, man utd, Chelsea, psg and the Red bull clubs haven't done the same. The moment we start winning back to back pl everyone wants to say we bought the league but when united and Chelsea did they're talented. Joke.”
Patrickk_Batemann: “It’s no secret that the owners invested heavily in the initial years and yet they keep on bringing up breaches of those years over and over again. Like we all know about it so what are you trying to prove? Chelsea did it during early 2000s, so did Blackburn. They can’t do anything about the fact that the club is in a healthy and enviable position right now financially. So the best they can do to tarnish the achievements is by bringing up 2009-2016.”
Runnerswanted: “Ah, but Chelsea and Blackburn had white owners who did that, so it’s fine.”
